Since tonight is celebration night, here is a good song.
Kool and the Gang. Sounds like a good name for all your teachers this year. Clearly, I would be "Kool" :-)

Make sure that you post your final letter in the final draft section - It is due by Thursday, 6/16/2020.
Monday, 6/15/2020
If you have not done so already, you should post a first draft on the blog under Wednesday's blog. Some of you have still not responded to my comments. Some of you do not need to start over, just edit what you already have!
If you did this already, and you are happy with where you are, begin building your final draft. This final draft should be in the letter format that I gave you. It should also be done on a document (i.e. google docs or Microsoft word).
THE DEADLINE TO TURN IN THESE LETTERS HAS BEEN MOVED TO THURSDAY 6/18.
You will have class time on Tuesday to work on it. Maybe more, but normal work will resume for Wednesday and Thursday as well. So use the time you have wisely.
(FYI today's assignment will not be counted in the weekly assignments that are reported to your parents, as some of you are done already. Maybe for those of you who are done, you can take on a new advocacy??)
Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (6/11-6/14)
As we discussed in class, kidblog was down for Thursday.
There was no specific blog for Thursday or Friday. If you did work on your Wednesday blog (on either Wednesday, Thursday or Friday), it will count. So, when I call next week its Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays blog I will talk about. If you didn't post anything on Wednesday, you will only have 2/3. You had three days to do this!
For next week, your letters are due on Tuesday.
You can put the final draft in kidblog, or email it to me as a document.
I expect the final drafts to be neat, and to look a lot like the example copy I showed to you on Wednesday.
I will be on zoom from 9am-10:30Aam on Monday (6/15) morning if you need help. I must be logged off by 11:00 AM, so if you want help, show up before then.
I will also be on zoom from 3pm-4pm (6/16) to help any last minute people.
I will collect your letters, and then, after I read through and check them, will discuss sending them. I can not send your letter to anyone with out the schools permission and your parents permission.
I should see edits happening on the blog with your letters. If you leave this all until Monday, I will not be able to help you all. We will probably not have a lot of time for close reads on Monday or Tuesday if multiple people show up.
If you have any questions, you can email me or text me this weekend. Have a nice weekend!
If you worked with me already, and you sent back your edited letter to include anything that I asked you to include, then you are done! You will not have anything to do until Monday.

There is no such thing as an X-box One.
Today's blog is reserved for writing drafts of your letters and for continuing to expand upon your ideas. So, in your blog post today, I should either see a draft of your letter, or more information that you want to include. Remember, its fine to advocate for what you want to, but you need to have the proper information. You have to be convincing, and ensure that your audience understands and respects your position. If you use inaccurate information or generalizations, you might not capture the attention of your audience. Use today (like you did yesterday) to gather specific information that supports your argument/what you are advocating for. For example, my argument is that people should eat more grass fed beef than regular beef. I think this should happen because " To maximize growth, the cows are often given drugs, such as antibiotics and growth hormones." Therefore, its safe to say that cows are fed an unnatural diet, and it is not as healthy for us as grass fed beef (which is what cows ate prior to the existence of food stores etc). If you notice, I have my stance and what I am advocating for. Then, I back it up with reasons that will interest a reader. You should be thinking along the same lines. Go over to the blog and find today's date. Use the space to write a rough draft or continue gathering information.

Also, for your information, I will be available at the following times to help any students out who need it. I will open up my zoom while I am doing other work, and help you as needed. Those times are:
Wednesday, June 10th from 1pm-2pm.
Thursday, June 11th from 4pm-5pm.
Friday, June 12th from 9am-11am.
If none of these times work for you (because of other things in your schedule, email me; [email protected] and we will set up a time that works for you).
*Remember, I am not going to do this work for you. I would be happy to help, but come with specific questions and specific things you need help with. I do not get it is simply not a good enough prompt*
Tuesday, 6/9/2020.
Here is your chance to write down everything you know about your topic. I don't care if you write in paragraphs, lists, whatever you want. Get all of your ideas out onto one page. If you do research, YOU MUST HAVE YOUR PARENTS PERMISSION TO DO SO. You will never know who I ask. If I find out you did research without asking, I am not going to be happy. Head over to kidblog and get started.!
