“Successful and unsuccessful people do not vary greatly in their
abilities. They vary in their desires to reach their potential.” – John

Parents and Students,
Welcome to the website of 4th Grade Science and Social Studies. My name is Mr. M. Williams, and I will be leading instruction in the classroom. This is my fifth year working for The Bronx Charter School for Better Learning. I've held various roles, including teaching fourth grade (Science and Social Studies) twice, and fifth grade (ELA) once. I look forward to working very closely with you all.
Here are a few notes:
4th Grade is a departmentalized grade. I will be teaching all seventy five students Science and Social Studies. 4th grade is also a testing year in science. Generally, the students at BBL perform very well on this test. Students will receive a comprehensive review throughout the year. This year, they will use a binder in Science and Social Studies, and items that are used for review will be placed in a separate section of the binder.
Homework will come home sporadically. Each student will be given a homework folder, and a homework agenda book. Parents can refer to the agenda book to see if any homework has been assigned. Typically, homework will be the result of unfinished classwork. At this age, the children will need to be accountable for their classwork. One consequence of not holding themselves accountable to finishing classwork is having to finish that classwork as homework. There are three ways work is completed in our classroom (Independent work, partner work and center work). As a teacher, part of my job is to prepare these students for middle school. Time management and completing objectives are two keys to success in middle school.
Thank you for taking time to read this.
